Will the Giants make the playoffs without Jaxson Dart? Kalshi says 29 cents to buy as of 10:30 PM ET Monday, September 21, which means about a 29% chance, and it traded as low as 22 in the third quarter. It was 47 cents at kickoff. Dart took a hit on his left knee on the Giants' opening drive in Los Angeles, limped to the locker room, was ruled out early in the third quarter, and every contract with his name anywhere near it repriced before the game was over. Jameis Winston finished it.
The Read
Here's what I keep coming back to. This is the same 1-0 team that beat Dallas eight days ago, with Winston at quarterback for however long the knee says, and the contract lost 20 cents before anybody had seen an MRI. Joe Schoen told ESPN's Laura Rutledge during the game that Dart "is going to be OK," and the Giants were only X-raying him at the stadium. If that turns out to be a Grade 1 MCL sprain, a week or two, you are looking at a 47-cent team priced in the 20s with the Titans and Cardinals up next. If it's a Grade 2 or worse, a month or more of Winston, the 20s are right and the Titans game Sunday is the first place you'll see it.

The playoff contract pays if New York is one of the 14 teams in the field, and it settles after Week 18 ends on January 10. The division on the same contract Monday night: Eagles 77 cents, Cowboys 53, Giants 29, Commanders 8. Dart's game-day contracts are already gone. His 200-plus passing yards contract was 59 cents at kickoff and settles at zero, along with every strike above it.
Third-And-Eight On The First Drive
The Giants came in 1-0 after beating Dallas 28-20 as a three-point underdog, with Dart coming off 23 of 29 for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Third-and-8 on the opening series, Dart stood in to throw deep, and Rams linebacker Byron Young hit him from the right side and drove him into Josaiah Stewart, who undercut his legs. The left knee bent the wrong way in the air. He grabbed it on the turf, got up, and walked to the locker room with a limp. He was 3 of 5 for 20 yards.
The Giants called him questionable, then ruled him out early in the third quarter, down 14-3. The word on the broadcast and in the press box was a possible MCL problem, and Schoen's "he's going to be OK" came while Dart was still being X-rayed at the stadium. Nobody has said Grade 1 or Grade 2 yet. That is the whole question.
Kalshi went to work anyway. The playoff contract traded 47 cents at kickoff, 34 by the end of the first half, and as low as 22 in the third quarter before buyers showed up and pushed it back to 29. The NFC East contract went from 27 to 12 and back to 18. The Rams' moneyline was 74 cents before the game and 99 by the fourth quarter, so the market stopped treating this as a football game about an hour in.
What You Get With Winston
Jameis Winston is 32 and this is his second year as the Giants' backup. He started two games last November when Dart sat, lost 27-20 to Green Bay and 34-27 in Detroit, and threw for 567 yards, two touchdowns and two picks across three appearances. He can throw it 366 yards in a game, which he did against the Lions, and he can throw it to the other team, which he has done his whole career. Monday night he came in cold and was 6 of 15 for 69 yards and an interception midway through the third quarter, with the Rams up 21-3 and Matthew Stafford already at three touchdowns.
What he's replacing is a quarterback who ran for 487 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie on a 4-13 team, then opened this year with three touchdown passes in a win over Dallas. Dart's legs are the Giants' offense. That is what the market priced out Monday night.
The Schedule While He's Out
Four games before the Giants see Philadelphia, and only Sunday's line has moved yet.

Tennessee, Arizona, Washington with Marcus Mariota in for Jayden Daniels, and New Orleans. A healthy Dart probably goes 3-1 through it. A month of Winston still gets you two wins against that group, maybe three. The gap between those two outcomes is about a win, and a win off a 47-cent playoff team should land you somewhere in the mid-30s. The market went to the low 20s because it does not know the grade yet, and neither do I.
This is the third starting quarterback to go down in eight days. Caleb Williams' hamstring cost Chicago 14 cents on the same contract, Daniels' elbow cost Washington 15, and Dart's knee cost New York 20 in one night. The difference is that the Bears and Commanders had a day to read the MRI. The Giants got repriced in real time, in the dark.
What Moves The Price From Here
- The MRI, Tuesday. A Grade 1 sprain and a week-to-week tag sends this contract back toward 40. Anything with "weeks" in it holds it in the 20s, and an IR stint takes it under 20.
- Titans at Giants, Sunday. The Giants were 72 cents to win at kickoff Monday and 59 now. A Winston win against Tennessee keeps the season on the rails; a loss makes them 1-2 with Arizona next and the price sits.
- Wednesday's practice report. If Dart is on the field in any capacity Wednesday, the market will know before the Giants say anything.
- January 10, 2027. The field is set after Week 18 and the contract settles.
Bottom Line
29 cents says about a 29% chance the Giants make the playoffs. The same roster was 47 cents at kickoff, and the price moved on the sight of the knee, not on a diagnosis. If Tuesday's MRI comes back Grade 1, this is the cheapest playoff contract of the three quarterback injuries this week, on the team with the easiest next month. If it's worse, the 20s are about right, and Winston against the Titans on Sunday will tell you everything.
