At 2:50 this afternoon, President Trump speaks at General Motors' Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan, and Kalshi has a 34-contract board on what comes out of the microphone. This is the first Model Verdict where our AI panel got a new weapon: the settled history of 1,113 prior mention contracts across 36 of his speeches, phrase by phrase. When you know he has said "Oil" in 18 of the last 20 events with that exact contract, you stop guessing. The result is a panel that agrees with the market almost everywhere, and disagrees in a handful of specific, explainable places.
The Market
| Venue | Kalshi — a CFTC-regulated exchange (18+; availability varies by state, as of July 2026) |
| The event | "What will Trump say?" — 34 yes/no contracts on his July 27, 2026 remarks at GM Milford |
| The contract | Each market resolves YES if Trump says that word/phrase as part of the event, per Kalshi's settlement rules |
| Event time | Today — Monday, July 27, 2026, 2:50pm EDT (C-SPAN carries it live) |
| Prices below as of | midday July 27, 2026, about two hours before the speech |
The Setup: An Economy Speech at a Car Company
The context is unusually legible for a mention board. Per reporting on the visit, Trump is in Michigan to tout his trade and industrial policies against voter concern about the economy ahead of the fall congressional races. The program includes a facility tour, a vehicle demonstration, and a drag race at the proving ground. It's an open-air, rally-format speech to a ticketed crowd: the format where he historically runs long and works his full catalog.
That setting does a lot of pricing by itself: auto-industry venue plus economy speech makes "Tariff" (94¢), "EV / Electric" (88¢), "Gas" (88¢), and "Oil" (88¢) near-locks, and the market has them there.
What's New: The Panel Now Reads the Settled Ledger
Every prior Model Verdict panel reasoned from general knowledge of the speaker. This one also received, for each phrase, its empirical record across every past Kalshi contract on it: said "Biden" in 24 of 30, said "Crypto" in 3 of 31, said "Landslide" in 5 of 6, plus the recent trend, fetched live from Kalshi's official settlements. The models were still never shown today's prices. We built this after grading our Correspondents' Dinner coverage, where the panel's worst misses were on exactly the phrases whose history it didn't know.
The ledger also carries a momentum signal, because this speaker's catalog rotates: a phrase he has used at each of his last several events gets flagged as in active rotation (he characteristically repeats fresh material while it's hot), and a phrase absent from his last four despite deep history gets flagged as rotated out. That signal is why the panel does NOT fade some prices that look rich on career rates alone: "Hottest" runs 53% career but is on a five-event streak, and the panel prices it 80. The effect is visible down the table: on the habitual phrases, the blind panel lands within a few points of the crowd, and where it still disagrees, the disagreement is doing real work.
The Full Board: Six Models, One Blend

Model estimates generated at 1:28pm ET on July 27, 2026, price-blind, grounded in the settled-contract ledger described above. The "Event does not qualify" meta-contract is excluded (see The Traps). Several thinly traded contracts priced later in the morning than the rest, and their quotes carry wider spreads. These are model estimates, not predictions of fact and not financial or trading advice. Models are frequently wrong; the market price reflects real traders' money. Our panel's full graded record, including the events it lost to the market, is public.
Where the Panel Disagrees With the Crowd
Afford / Affordable / Affordability at 82¢, blend 42%. The board's biggest gap. "Making America affordable again" is his signature economic message and this is an economy speech, so the premium writes itself. The ledger disagrees with the narrative: he has hit this contract in just 6 of 18 past events (33%), and only once across his recent stretch. Talking about affordability constantly in interviews and posts is not the same thing as saying the word at a podium, and the panel prices the podium habit. All six models sit at 60 or below against an 82-cent price.
Landslide at 56¢, blend 83%. The inverse case: 5-of-6 career, said at each of his last three events, and a rally-format speech about his record in a state he flipped. The ledger, the streak, and the setting all point the same way, and the market is pricing a coin flip.
Israel / Israeli at 30¢, blend 56%. He has said it in 12 of 22 past contract events across every speech format. The market appears to discount it for the car-plant backdrop; the ledger says foreign-policy riffs survive venue changes. Five of six models are at 50 or above.
Transgender at 72¢, blend 47% and Iran-3x at 72¢, blend 53% express the same discipline as the Affordability call at smaller scale: real habits (46% and 67% career respectively), but priced like near-locks, and Iran needs three mentions in an economy speech to cash.
The Traps
- "Event does not qualify" (2¢) is excluded from the table: one model returned 95% while its own reasoning argued the event will obviously proceed — the same meta-contract sign-inversion we've documented before. The five models that parsed it correctly average 4%, right at the market.
- Made in America (76¢, blend 88%) — the +12 looks clean, but this exact contract has never been listed before, so the ledger is silent and the panel is reasoning from venue fit alone. Directionally sensible; not base-rate evidence.
- Dumbocrat (78¢, blend 65%) — the market is riding a real hot streak (said at both of his last two events, after a cold spring). The panel splits the difference between the 44% career rate and the streak. We'd call the market's read defensible and the modest fade low-conviction.
- Windmill (22¢, blend 40%) — a 2-of-6 ledger and a drag-race venue inference. Thin conviction both ways.
The Best Value on the Board
Affordability NO at 82¢ is the panel's call — the widest gap on the board, a 33% career rate doing the arguing against a venue narrative, and every model on the same side. Landslide YES at 56¢ is its mirror: career rate, live streak, and setting all aligned against a coin-flip price. Israel YES at 30¢ remains the value sleeper. And the premium tier held up better than it did at the Correspondents' Dinner once the streak data arrived: the panel now agrees with the market on Hottest, MAGA, and Tariff — the fades that remain are the ones the ledger, not the vibe, supports.
Tonight settles all 34, and per this series' standing practice, every verdict above is already stored in our public grading system and will be scored against the outcome, win or lose.
To be explicit: these are model estimates for information and entertainment, not financial advice and not a recommendation to trade any contract. Event contracts are for adults 18+ where legal.
FAQ
Is Kalshi legal in my state?
Availability varies by state and changes over time (our state-by-state prediction-markets legality guide tracks it), so check your eligibility directly on the platform before doing anything. Kalshi is a federally regulated exchange (event contracts are CFTC-regulated and are not sports betting), but access rules differ by jurisdiction and you must be 18 or older. That is the state of play as of July 2026.
Are the model verdicts advice?
No. Model verdicts are statistical estimates of how a market might resolve, not financial advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any contract.
What is the "settled-market ledger" the models used?
Kalshi has listed and settled over 1,100 Trump mention contracts across 36 past speeches. For each phrase on today's board, we fetched its full win-loss record and recent trend from those official settlements and gave that to the models as ground truth: the speaker's real utterance rate, not a guess. The models then adjusted for today's specific event. They never saw today's prices.
How exactly does a mention count?
Per Kalshi's rules, each market resolves YES if Trump says the listed word or phrase as part of the July 27 event. Variants listed in the contract name count, and the "Iran" contract requires three or more mentions. Kalshi's settlement rules govern edge cases; how these contracts settle covers the mechanics.
Will these prices move before the speech?
Mention boards reprice right up to the podium, and several contracts here were thinly traded at snapshot time. The table is a morning-of snapshot; the speech is at 2:50pm EDT.
