WNBA Parlay Of The Day (August 6): Two Assist Unders, One Bet365 Slip At +245
Tuesday's edition of this column had to talk its way around a one-game night. Thursday hands the structure back: three WNBA games, six positive de-vig grades spread across all of them, and a ticket that follows every series rule without a footnote. The shape of tonight's value is strange and worth saying out loud: every single edge the screen graded is an Under, and the best ticket the rules allow pairs the card's widest edge with the de-vigged favorite that shares its book, both of them assist Unders. That's the whole ticket. And the one number on the board bigger than any of tonight's is a story I'll get to at the end, because it's the bet I'm deliberately not making.
The Quick Answer
The WNBA parlay of the day for Thursday, August 6 is a 2-leg Bet365 ticket: Emily Engstler Under 2.5 assists (-105) in Toronto Tempo at Portland Fire, and A'ja Wilson Under 3.5 assists (-130) in Las Vegas Aces at Indiana Fever. The combined price pays +245 against a de-vigged fair value of about +219, a ticket-level edge of roughly +8.2%. A Hard Rock alternative at +265, the legs that didn't board, and the full de-vig math are all below.
Three Games, One Direction
Here is everything tonight's board graded positive, tip times included, so nobody has to guess which night a leg settles:
| Play (All Thursday) | Game (Tip ET) | Book & Price | Fair | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Emily Engstler Under 2.5 Assists | Toronto Tempo @ Portland Fire (10:00 PM) | Bet365 -105 | -119 | +6.1% |
| Rae Burrell Under 20.5 PRA | Los Angeles Sparks @ Minnesota Lynx (9:00 PM) | Hard Rock -105 | -113 | +3.6% |
| Rae Burrell Under 15.5 Points | Los Angeles Sparks @ Minnesota Lynx (9:00 PM) | Hard Rock -110 | -118 | +3.3% |
| Carla Leite Under 2.5 Rebounds | Toronto Tempo @ Portland Fire (10:00 PM) | Hard Rock -115 | -122 | +2.7% |
| Dearica Hamby Under 14.5 Points | Los Angeles Sparks @ Minnesota Lynx (9:00 PM) | DraftKings -113 | -118 | +2.0% |
| A'ja Wilson Under 3.5 Assists | Las Vegas Aces @ Indiana Fever (7:00 PM) | Bet365 -130 | -136 | +2.0% |
Six grades, zero Overs, and the row that matters most is the top one: Engstler's assist Under is the widest edge on Thursday's card by two and a half points. The rules this column runs on are one leg per game, no same-game legs, and one book per slip, so the combined price is just the leg prices multiplied together. Run those rules against the table and the board sorts itself: Bet365 holds the widest edge and one other game's leg; Hard Rock holds two games' worth; DraftKings holds one orphan. The Bet365 pair wins the slip, and here's the case for each seat.
Leg 1: Emily Engstler Under 2.5 Assists (-105)
The anchor. Strip the vig and the market makes this Under a 54.3% proposition, fair at -119, while Bet365 is asking just -105: a +6.1% gap, the kind of number this series exists to find. The basketball case doesn't fight the math for once, because Engstler is a frontcourt piece, not a creator. The Portland Fire took the forward seventh overall in the 2026 expansion draft, and in her first season there she's averaging 2.1 assists in about 24 minutes a night, living just under this line while her value shows up as rebounds and steals, not dimes. The pricing framework is the same one in our assists prop guide; it transfers to the WNBA unchanged.
The honest risk runs through Portland's guard depth, and it's worth stating plainly: guard Teja Oblak is day-to-day with a knee issue, guard Sarah Ashlee Barker is already lost to a torn ACL, and the mechanism matters — a missing ball-handler pushes creation duties toward the forwards, which is the wrong direction for an assist Under. Forward Bridget Carleton (day-to-day, foot) and Sania Feagin (torn ACL) thin the frontcourt rotation too, though that cuts at minutes, not Engstler's assist role. Toronto's own report (Marina Mabrey day-to-day, Brittney Sykes out) doesn't touch Engstler's usage either way. The fair number already carries the roster picture the market can see; what you're being paid for is the 14-cent gap between -119 and -105, not a secret.
Leg 2: A'ja Wilson Under 3.5 Assists (-130)
The second seat is a price-only leg, and I'm going to argue it the honest way rather than the easy way. The easy version writes itself: Wilson is a scoring center, centers don't rack up dimes, take the Under. The honest version: Wilson is averaging 3.2 assists a game this season, and she's cleared this line in four straight, with assist counts of 4, 4, 6 and 4 across her last four games. Recent form points the wrong way, and if that bothers you, this is the leg to fade.
So why is it on the slip? Because the market, which watched every one of those games, still de-vigs this Under to 57.6%, fair -136, and Bet365 is selling it at -130. The screen doesn't grade stories; it grades gaps, and this is a positive one on a de-vigged favorite, exactly what a parlay wants compounding, as our +EV bets guide lays out. The context cuts both ways too. Las Vegas lists Cheyenne Parker-Tyus (concussion) and Janiah Barker (leg) out with Dana Evans day-to-day, which concentrates offense in Wilson's hands, but a hub who shoots more doesn't automatically pass more, and Indiana's own report (Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston both carrying day-to-day tags but trending toward playing) mostly shapes pace, not Wilson's assist column. When the priced-in number still favors the Under this clearly after four straight Overs, the price is the argument. It's the one leg tonight I keep turning over, and I take it anyway. That's what betting the number instead of the narrative means.
One structural note that doubles as the correlation check: these two legs share nothing. Different games, different arenas, three hours apart. Engstler's assist total cannot touch Wilson's, so the leg probabilities multiply straight, which is precisely why the ticket structure insists on one leg per game.
The De-Vig Math: +219 Fair, +245 Payout
The worked example, using only the prices above:
- The payout. Convert each price to decimal odds and multiply: 1.9524 (Engstler at -105) x 1.7692 (Wilson at -130) = 3.4542, which is a +245 American price. A $100 ticket returns about $245 in profit if both cash.
- The fair price. The de-vigged win probabilities are 54.3% (Engstler) and 57.6% (Wilson). Two legs in two separate games multiply straight: the ticket cashes about 31.3% of the time, a fair price near +219.
- The edge. Getting paid +245 on a +219 proposition compounds the leg edges (+6.1% and +2.0%) into a ticket-level edge of about +8.2% at tonight's prices. Our expected value calculator guide walks the conversion arithmetic step by step.
The Parlay Builder is where this gets checked before it gets bet: load both legs and compare the combined price it shows you against the +219 fair from step 2. If the number you're actually offered has drifted under +219, the ticket is a pass. Prices captured this afternoon are not owed to you at 7:00 tip.

What Got Left Off, And Why
The one-book rule built a real second ticket tonight before I set it aside. Hard Rock holds Rae Burrell Under 20.5 points + rebounds + assists at -105 (fair -113) and Carla Leite Under 2.5 rebounds at -115 (fair -122): one leg in Minneapolis, one in Portland, combining to +265 against a +243 fair, a +6.4% ticket. It's a perfectly playable alternative if Hard Rock is your book; it lost the seat to the Bet365 pair on edge, +8.2% to +6.4%, and a slip doesn't get sharper by taking the second-best version of itself. Its injury context deserves the same daylight as the main ticket's: the Sparks list Ariel Atkins, Tonie Morgan and Alissa Pili out, and Minnesota is without Chloe Bibby and Emma Cechova, which is exactly the kind of shorthanded picture that can concentrate usage in Burrell's direction, so treat the fair number as carrying it. Leite, by the way, is the other half of Portland's expansion haul (the Fire took the French guard from Golden State in the same draft that landed Engstler), so both Thursday tickets run through the same 10:00 PM game from opposite ends of the box score.
Burrell's points Under at -110 shares a game with her own PRA Under, so it can never board the same slip. Dearica Hamby's points Under at -113 is DraftKings' lone graded leg, and a one-leg book can't build a parlay; both work as straight singles if you want them.
And now the number I promised in the opening. The widest edge on the entire board isn't any of these. It's Gabby Williams Under 19.5 points + rebounds + assists at even money on Bet365, a +7.4% gap against its -116 fair. It's not on tonight's ticket for one reason: the Valkyries' star doesn't play until Friday night in Dallas. Two days ago this column bet a Wednesday card on a Tuesday because a one-game night left no choice. Tonight there's a full card and no excuse, so the discipline points the other way: bet the night in front of you, and let Friday's edition claim Friday's board, starting with that number if it survives the next 24 hours of pricing.
How To Size It
Same framework as the July 17 ticket, adjusted for a two-legger that cashes more often than a three-leg build. A 31.3% proposition still loses about two nights in three, so at +245 the full-Kelly stake is about 3.3% of bankroll, and I take a quarter of that (call it 0.8%) per standard bankroll management. One timing reality shapes the whole checklist: the slip has to be in before Wilson's 7:00 PM tip, three hours before Portland's game, and final actives for a 10:00 game can post after that window closes. So the check is the latest Oblak designation available by 7:00, not a confirmed report; whatever Portland news lands after your bet is placed is residual risk the +6.1% Engstler edge is being paid to carry. The tonight-specific sizing call: Wilson's four-straight-Overs headwind is the one thing that would push me below the standard 0.8%, and my answer is to trim the stake before I'd ever swap in a lower-edge leg to avoid her. If the price check breaks wrong instead, passing is a position.
- If Bet365's combined price drifts under the +219 fair before the 7:00 PM first tip, tonight's ticket is a pass, not a smaller bet.
- One book, one leg per game: the Hard Rock +265 pair is a substitute slip, never extra legs on this one.
- Size for the miss rate: a 31.3% ticket at +245 is a 0.8% quarter-Kelly stake, so no single Thursday matters.

FAQ
Why two legs instead of three?
Because the one-book rule said so. Tonight's six positive grades split across three books, and no single book held three separate games' worth of value — Bet365's two-game pair carried the most edge. A third leg from another book can't board the same slip, and a third leg with no edge just dilutes the two that have it.
Why is the best number on the board not in the parlay?
Gabby Williams' +7.4% PRA Under is a Friday game — Golden State at Dallas tips tomorrow at 9:30 PM ET. After Tuesday's forced day-early exception, this edition goes back to the series' standing rule: one night at a time. Friday's column gets Friday's board.
Why is every leg an Under again?
Because that's what the screen graded: all six positive edges on Thursday's three games landed on Unders, and every Friday row behind them graded Under too. Part of that is where the soft prices live right now. Bet365 hanging -105 on a 2.5-assist line for a forward who averages 2.1 is an Under mispriced; so is even money on a de-vigged -116 favorite for Friday. The ticket follows the value; it doesn't force balance.
The Bottom Line
Thursday gives this series its cleanest structure in a week: three games, two de-vigged favorites at one book, +245 against a +219 fair, anchored by Engstler's +6.1% and carried past the one leg whose recent form argues back. Check the latest Portland designations before the 7:00 PM window closes, check the combined price, and if both hold, the night's work is two assist Unders and a number that pays more than it should.
