Who is favored to win the AFC West in 2026? Kansas City, at 2-0 and with the fifth-highest win ladder in the league. The finding from Week 2 sits lower on the board. Las Vegas went into Los Angeles, beat the Chargers 26-14, and the Kalshi win-total ladders now expect 7.9 wins from the Raiders and 6.8 from the Chargers, a team the market had at 32 cents to win this division in August. Kansas City's ladder sums to 11.2 wins, Denver's to 9.3, and the 14-3 champion's tenth win prices at 50.5 cents. Prices as of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 7:31 a.m. ET; game prices are Kalshi asks before fees, and win-ladder rungs and expected wins are midpoints of each team's 17-rung win-total ladder.
The AI panel this page ran on August 16, eight models scoring the division blind, put Denver first on every seat and has not been re-run. Two weeks in, the market has moved past the panel's own reasons for marking Denver down.

The Board After Week 2
| Team | 2026 | Expected wins | Since Tue. | Week 2 | Division price, Sept. 20 | Panel (Aug. 16) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kansas City Chiefs | 2-0 | 11.2 (5th of 32) | 0.0 | W 33-30 vs. IND | 52.5¢ | 29.0% |
| Denver Broncos | 1-1 | 9.3 (13th) | -0.1 | W 20-13 vs. JAX | 23.5¢ | 39.5% |
| Las Vegas Raiders | 2-0 | 7.9 (19th) | +0.2 | W 26-14 at LAC | 6.5¢ | 6.0% |
| Los Angeles Chargers | 0-2 | 6.8 (25th) | +0.6 | L 14-26 vs. LV | 15.5¢ | 26.5% |
"Since Tue." is the ladder's move since Tuesday, September 22, 6:50 a.m. ET. The division column is this page's last read of the KXNFLAFCWEST-27 contracts, Saturday, September 20, before the Week 2 games; each of the four settles YES only if that team is named division champion, so a wild-card season pays nothing. The panel column is the eight-model median, generated price-blind on August 16.
Two rows changed. The Raiders' ladder is 1.1 wins above the Chargers', and the panel had the Chargers at 26.5 percent to win the division against 6 for Las Vegas. Denver's 9.3 is under the 10.5-win profile the panel used to cap the Broncos at 40 percent in August, which means the market has now gone past the panel's own discount.

Kansas City: Fifth In The League Before The Schedule Bites
Kansas City went 6-11 last year with a plus-34 point differential, better than the 11-6 Chargers' plus-28, and Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL on December 14.The ladder has the Chiefs at 11.2 expected wins, behind only Buffalo, San Francisco, Seattle and Cincinnati. The 12th win prices at 48.5 cents and the 13th at 32.5.
"Kansas City is where I most disagree with a naive last-season-record ranking. A 6-11 team usually would be a longshot, but +34 point differential was better than the Chargers' +28, Mahomes' ACL explains part of the late collapse, Andy Reid remains a major stabilizer, and Justin Fields gives better insurance than most teams have. I still keep KC below Denver because Mahomes has not taken a preseason snap, Reid has not promised Week 1 availability, and the Chiefs have the hardest slate at .536." — ChatGPT
Two of those three reasons expired in Week 1. The third, the .536 schedule, has not started biting: Week 3 is at Miami, whose ladder is 3.1 expected wins, last in the league.
Denver: The Tenth Win Is A Coin Flip
Denver was the disagreement in August, market third and panel first, and every seat capped the Broncos well under the division's repeat rate for the same three reasons: a +90 point differential that was the thinnest of any 14-win team, Bo Nix's two procedures on a fractured right ankle, and Davis Webb calling plays for the first time.Week 2 was a 20-13 home win over Jacksonville, and the ladder still slipped a tenth, 9.4 to 9.3. The tenth win prices at 50.5 cents, the twelfth at 23.5 and the 14th, last year's record, at 4.5.
"Denver ranks first on the card's strongest structural facts: the 65% repeat rate it explicitly supplies, the easiest 2026 slate (.512 vs KC's .536), a 5-1 division record, and a playoff run to the AFC title game confirming last year wasn't smoke. I cap them at 40, well below a naive 14-3 read, for three card facts: +90 is a ~10.5-win Pythagorean profile (close-game equity that doesn't repeat), Nix needed two ankle procedures and hasn't taken a preseason snap, and Davis Webb has never called a regular-season play on an offense that scored 7 in its last meaningful game." — Kimi
Kimi's cap was 40 percent on a 10.5-win profile. The ladder is now under that profile, and on Sunday night the Broncos are home underdogs to the Rams at 44 cents.
The Repeat Rate Is 43 Percent, Not 65
The panel leaned on a division repeated 15 times in 23 chances since 2002. Claude Opus held Denver near 38 through both rounds and spent its revision attacking that statistic.
"Where I most disagree with the group is the 65% repeat rate: it is real arithmetic but it is not division-generic. Almost every repeat in the window belongs to a dynasty QB run (San Diego 2006-09, Denver 2012-15, Kansas City 2016-24); the non-dynasty champions — 2002 Oakland, 2003 KC, 2005 Denver, 2010 KC, 2011 Denver — all failed to repeat. Denver is a first-year champion with a third-year QB who has had two ankle procedures and zero preseason snaps." — Claude Opus
[Editor's note: the core claim checks out and is stronger than stated, though one entry is wrong. All 15 repeats in the window belong to three runs, San Diego 2006-09, Denver 2011-15 and Kansas City 2016-24, so the 2011 Broncos belong to a dynasty rather than to the list that failed to follow up. Champions who took the division the year after a different team held it repeated 3 times in 7, or 43 percent. Seven cases is a small sample, but the direction is exactly as Opus argues, and 43 percent is close to where the full panel landed on Denver.]
Opus also named, in August, the sequence that would flip its board: a Denver loss at Kansas City on September 14, then a loss at the Chargers on October 11. The first half is done.
The Chargers Are 0-2 And Priced Twenty-Fifth
Los Angeles was the board's quietest disagreement in August, 32 cents against a 26.5 percent blend. It is 0-2 now after 26-14 to Arizona and 26-14 to Las Vegas, both at home, 28 points in two games. The ladder sums to 6.8 wins, 25th of 32, and an 11th win, last season's total, prices at 7.5 cents. The one number that went the other way is the ladder itself, up 0.6 since Tuesday morning, the largest rise in the division.
Claude Sonnet was the one seat that ended the revision round with the Chargers ahead of the Chiefs, on zero quarterback uncertainty, a .522 schedule and last year's 5-1 division record. That division record is 0-1 this season, and the next game is at Buffalo, the top ladder in the league at 12.1.
The Raiders Came Up To The Panel, Then Past It
Las Vegas was the one place the market came up to meet the panel in August, 6 percent against 4.5 cents. Klint Kubiak's first two games are 27-13 over Miami, and 26-14 at the Chargers. The ladder is 7.9 wins, up 0.2 since Tuesday. The eighth win prices at 53.5 cents and the tenth at 31, for a team that won three games last year.
Week 3: What Each Team Is Playing For
All four kick off Sunday, September 27. Win prices are Kalshi asks before fees; the spread and total are the rung nearest the DraftKings line.
| Game | Kickoff (ET) | To win | Spread rung | Total rung |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chiefs at Dolphins | 1:00 p.m. | Chiefs 86¢, Dolphins 15¢ | Chiefs by over 10.5: 53¢ | Over 45.5: 54¢ |
| Chargers at Bills | 1:00 p.m. | Bills 76¢, Chargers 25¢ | Bills by over 6.5: 56¢ | Over 50.5: 48¢ |
| Raiders at Saints | 4:25 p.m. | Saints 61¢, Raiders 40¢ | Saints by over 2.5: 57¢ | Over 44.5: 48¢ |
| Rams at Broncos | 8:20 p.m. | Rams 56¢, Broncos 44¢ | Rams by over 2.5: 52¢ | Over 45.5: 48¢ |
Chiefs at Dolphins. DraftKings has Kansas City by 11.5 with a total of 45.5. Miami's ladder is 3.1 wins, last in the league, and the Chiefs are playing for a second game clear of Denver in the standings.
Chargers at Bills. DraftKings has Buffalo by 7 with a total of 50.5, and the Bills by more than 7.5 rung sits at 48 cents. The division's lowest ladder draws the league's highest. What Los Angeles is playing for is the seven-win rung, 53.5 cents, with the ladder's median at 7.2 wins.
Raiders at Saints. DraftKings has New Orleans by 3 with a total of 44.5. The Saints' ladder is 9.0, up 0.3 after winning at Baltimore, and a Raiders win at 40 cents would be a 3-0 start against a ladder more than a win above their own.
Rams at Broncos. DraftKings has the Rams by 2.5 with a total of 45.5; the Broncos by more than 2.5 rung is 38 cents. The Rams' ladder is 10.9, sixth in the league. Denver is the only one of the four at home this week, and it is the underdog; and the tenth-win rung at 50.5 cents is the number Sunday night moves first.
What Is Still Live
Two of the panel's five August triggers expired unmet and the opener fired in the direction Opus warned about. Claude Fable's threshold for the Chargers, 27 points a game through September, is gone by arithmetic: 28 points in two games leaves 53 needed at Buffalo. GLM's tell on Denver, public criticism from Sean Payton about the play-calling, stays open with the Rams next. Opus's second half, a Denver loss at the Chargers on October 11, is the next division game on the schedule. Kansas City visits Denver on November 1, the Broncos' first chance to split the head-to-head tiebreaker Monday night handed the Chiefs.
