The 2026 pennant races are down to the two-month sprint, and Kalshi has turned the whole postseason into a wall of prices: who reaches October, who lifts the trophy, and how each league's field fills in. This is our hub for all of it. We handed three AI models the same fetched, dated standings, hid every market price from them, and asked each one to score two full 30-team boards, the race to qualify for the playoffs and the race to win the World Series. They agreed on the shape of the field and disagreed with the market in a few specific, useful places. The sharpest split is the one everyone will argue about: the crowd's runaway World Series favorite is a team the models quietly fade, a gap the just-finished trade deadline only widened.
The Quick Answer
Kalshi's 2026 postseason board has a clear favorite and a deep chase pack. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the World Series favorite in the 40-cent range, and four teams, the Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs, are near-locks to reach October at 94 cents or higher. Our three price-blind models see the same top tier, because those four also own the four best run differentials in baseball. Where they break from the market: they cut the Dodgers' title odds to about 14 percent, they make the Detroit Tigers the board's biggest bargain to reach the playoffs, and they are cooler than the crowd on the Cleveland Guardians and Philadelphia Phillies. The full playoff board, the World Series top ten, the AL pennant read, the trade-deadline effect, and where the panel and the market split hardest are all below.

The 2026 Playoff Picture, As Of August 4
Before the odds, the standings the models actually read. These are live figures from the MLB StatsAPI, fetched the morning of August 4, 2026, with each league's six postseason seeds shaping every price below.
| Division | Leader | Chasing (wild-card picture) |
|---|---|---|
| NL Central | Brewers (69-43, +134 run diff) | Cubs hold a wild card (64-49) |
| NL West | Dodgers (69-44, +145) | Diamondbacks hold a wild card (60-53) |
| NL East | Braves (67-45, +108) | Phillies hold the last wild card (60-53); Marlins 2.0 back |
| AL East | Rays (66-46, +35) | Yankees +6.0 and Red Sox +4.0 on the last wild card |
| AL Central | White Sox (59-52, +55) | Guardians hold a wild card; Twins and Tigers 1.0 to 2.5 back |
| AL West | Astros (58-56, -29) | Rangers and Mariners both 2.0 back of the last wild card |
The National League is top-heavy: the Brewers, Dodgers and Braves are all playing at a 100-win pace with elite run prevention, and the Cubs sit fourth on talent. The American League is flatter and messier, with three division leaders (the Rays, White Sox and Astros) whose records outrun their run differentials, and a wild-card scrum four or five teams deep in each half.
Who Makes The 2026 Playoffs: The Board
The mobile-friendly view of the Playoff Qualifiers market, sorted by the model blend. Each number is one team's standalone chance of reaching October, so the board sums to roughly 12, the number of postseason spots. Prices are Kalshi's, as of August 4, 2026.

|---|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles Dodgers | NL West lead, +145 | 99c | 96% |

| Seattle Mariners | 2.0 back, +3 | 45c | 37% |
| Everyone Else (14 Teams) | Sub-.500 or on the margins | 1c To 39c | <33% |
The models line up with the market on the ten teams at the top and the bottom. The disagreements are concentrated in the middle, exactly where a wild-card race lives, and they all trace back to one idea the panel leaned on hard: run differential, not record.

Where The Panel And The Market Split Hardest
A handful of rows carry almost all the disagreement, and each one is a clean lesson in how the panel reads a standings sheet. The through-line is run differential over record.
- Detroit Tigers: Market 19c, Panel 45 Percent. This is the board's biggest overlay, and it is entirely a run-differential story. The Tigers are 54-58, but they have outscored their opponents by 63 runs, the second-best mark in the American League. A team that good by run prevention sitting 2.5 games back with 50 to play is, in the models' read, badly underpriced at under two dimes. As our Fable seat put it, Detroit is "the board's unluckiest team, the AL's second-best differential at 54-58," and every seat priced the Tigers above the Guardians who currently hold the last wild card.
- Cleveland Guardians: Market 62c, Panel 40 Percent. The mirror image of Detroit. Cleveland holds a wild-card spot right now, and the market prices that incumbency near two-thirds. The models are colder because the underlying numbers are soft: the Guardians have been outscored on the season (a minus-16 differential) and have gone 3-7 over their last ten. Fable said outright that "the market would over-rate Cleveland's incumbency and under-rate Detroit," and priced the Tigers ahead of the team that currently holds the spot.
- Philadelphia Phillies: Market 81c, Panel 57 Percent. The Phillies hold a wild card at 60-53, and the market treats that as close to safe. The models are warier, because Philadelphia has been outscored by one run on the season, a break-even record that flags regression, while the Marlins (plus 13, on a three-game win streak) and a hot Padres club sit right behind them. Fable flagged Philadelphia as "softer than its record," and Opus kept Miami and San Diego "live and close behind."
Two more rows point the other way and are worth naming: the panel is higher than the market on the Miami Marlins (20c to 40 percent), the seats' favorite to steal the last NL wild card, and lower on the Texas Rangers (39c and falling to 20 percent), whose minus-40 differential and six-game losing streak read to the models like a fade the market is only starting to price.
World Series Odds 2026: The Panel's Top Ten
The Playoff Qualifiers board answers who gets in. The championship board answers who finishes it, and here the panel makes its loudest statement. Kalshi prices the Dodgers as a runaway favorite near 40 cents. The three models, scoring the same standings blind, blend them at about 14 percent and spread the rest of the title across a much deeper field. This is a top-line snapshot as of August 4, 2026; the full 30-team World Series board lives in the dedicated World Series 2026 odds verdict.

The Dodgers: The Market's Runaway Favorite The Panel Fades
Every seat took the Dodgers down from the crowd's number, and their reasoning was the same three ways. Los Angeles has the best run differential in baseball at plus 145, so this is not a knock on the roster. It is a statement about October. Our Fable seat called the Dodgers, Brewers and Braves "the only three teams playing at a true 100-win level," and Opus was blunt that "October's short series caps any single favorite well below 15 percent." A four-round gauntlet of best-of-five and best-of-seven series compresses the gap between the best team and a hot lower seed, and a 40-cent price implies a dominance no baseball team carries through four rounds. The panel is not betting against the Dodgers so much as betting against the idea that any single team should be near even money to win it all in a 12-team bracket.
One honest caveat on this exact gap: the panel scored a standings card dated before the August 3 trade deadline, and at that deadline the Dodgers landed ace left-hander Tarik Skubal, per MLB.com. The market's 40-cent conviction almost certainly reflects that addition; the models' 14 percent does not, because their card explicitly predated the move. So read this gap as two arguments at once: the panel's structural point that no team should be 40 percent in a bracket this deep, layered over a real roster upgrade the models never saw. Both can be true, and the settlement grade will sort them.
The flip side is that the value moves one tier down. The Brewers (plus 134), Braves (plus 108) and Cubs (plus 94) are the three teams the panel rates as most underpriced relative to their title odds, because the market has spent its probability on the Dodgers and left the other elite NL clubs cheap.
The AL Pennant Read
The World Series runs through two pennants. We ran a full price-blind board on the American League a day earlier; on the National League, the championship numbers above already carry the story.
American League. The Rays lead the East on record, but the panel's AL pennant board, generated August 3, actually favors the Yankees at about 23 percent (market 24c), with the Rays (18 percent, 17c) next, the White Sox (14 percent, and the panel's clearest overlay at just 9c) as the live Central entrant, and the Red Sox (13 percent, 11c) close behind. The theme repeats: the Yankees own the AL's best run differential at plus 81 even from second place, and the Rays' 66-46 record sits on a modest plus 35, a Pythagorean gap the models expect to narrow. The full 15-team American League board is in our AL pennant 2026 verdict.
National League. We did not run a standalone NL pennant board, because the championship blend above already is one at the top: the Brewers, Dodgers, Braves and Cubs are the four teams the panel gives real title equity, separated by a few runs of differential rather than any real talent gap. That is why the models keep the NL side far more open than a glance at the standings suggests. The Phillies and Padres are the likeliest to crash the party if a wild card gets hot, but none of the four leaders has done anything to hand the pennant away.
Dark Horses The Panel Won't Dismiss
The top of a board gets the headlines. The value often hides two tiers down, and three teams drew a real number from at least one seat despite trading as afterthoughts.
- Detroit Tigers (World Series ~1c, Playoffs 45 Percent). Already the playoff board's biggest overlay, the Tigers are the purest run-differential bet on the page. If plus 63 is real and the record is noise, they are not a long shot to reach October at all, and Opus gave them "contender-adjacent odds if it climbs into the WC."
- Arizona Diamondbacks (World Series 1c, Panel 3 Percent). A plus-6 differential is thin, but Arizona holds a wild card right now, and while the panel and the market agree on the Diamondbacks reaching October (57 cents, panel 53 percent), the models give them roughly triple their penny championship price to win it all.
- Miami Marlins (Playoffs 20c, Panel 40 Percent). At 58-55 with a plus-13 differential and a three-game winning streak, the Marlins are the panel's favorite team to steal the last NL wild card from a fading Phillies or Padres club, and the market still has them at just 20 cents.
The Trade Deadline Just Reshaped The Board
This hub publishes right after a live news window. The 2026 trade deadline passed at 6 p.m. ET on August 3, and several contenders used it to get better, per MLB.com. The Dodgers landed ace left-hander Tarik Skubal, the White Sox added Luis Castillo, the Rays picked up Freddy Peralta, the Cubs grabbed Kevin Gausman, the Braves added Tyler Mahle and the Yankees acquired Luis García Jr. A contender that adds a front-line starter can jump on both the playoff and championship boards, which is exactly what the market did with the Dodgers after Skubal.
Kalshi also runs a full slate of next-team markets on the winter's biggest names, from Mike Trout to Fernando Tatis Jr., Rafael Devers, Sandy Alcantara and Aroldis Chapman. Those contracts settle on where a player signs rather than on the postseason, so we treat them as context rather than a permanent part of this page.
One consequence worth stating plainly: the price-blind panel scored a standings card dated before the deadline, on purpose, so its numbers do not reflect the August 3 moves. Prices on this page refresh during the news wave, with the dated "as of" stamps above carrying the evidence, and we re-score the panel when the dust settles. Where a market price and a model estimate disagree by a wide margin right now, the Dodgers most of all, the deadline is the first thing to check.
Beyond October: The 2027 Lockout Question
The 2026 postseason is not the only clock ticking. The current collective bargaining agreement expires after the season, and Kalshi runs a market on whether a new deal is signed before December 2, 2026. If you want the panel's read on the odds of an offseason work stoppage, and what it would mean for the winter, that lives in our MLB lockout 2027 odds verdict. It is the one MLB market on the board that the playoff races cannot settle.
How These Odds Are Made
Every number here comes from the same process. Three AI models each scored two full 30-team boards without seeing any market price, reasoning only from a dated card of live 2026 standings, run differentials, streaks and wild-card positions pulled from the MLB StatsAPI the morning of August 4. Each seat committed to a complete distribution, then read the others' anonymized reasoning in a revision round and could revise. The blend is the equal-weight average across the seats. No model set a price to match the market, because none of them ever saw one.
A disclosure on the panel. Our standard Model Verdict panel runs eight AI seats; three of them scored these boards — Claude Opus, Claude Sonnet and Claude Fable — each returning a complete, differentiated distribution. All three scored price-blind on August 4, 2026. These are model estimates for informational purposes, not predictions of fact and not financial advice, and every call is graded in public once the market settles.
How To Read These Markets
A postseason board like this rewards knowing a few things about how it works, whoever you are:
- A price is a probability, not a payout quote. A contract settles at $1 if it hits and $0 if it does not, so a 60-cent price on the White Sox making the playoffs is the crowd pricing that outcome at about 60 percent, not a 60-to-1 line.
- The playoff board is not supposed to sum to 100. Twelve teams make the postseason, so the Playoff Qualifiers prices add up to roughly 1,200 cents across the league. That is correct. The championship board, where exactly one team wins, does sum to about 100 after you strip the market's built-in margin.
- Watch the volume before you trust a move. These futures boards trade thin, and a thin book flickers. The Cincinnati Reds contract briefly printed 37 cents earlier on August 4 before settling right back to single digits with no real volume behind the jump, a one-market-maker re-quote rather than a signal, and the panel's 3 percent and the settled price near 8 cents actually agree. The deep long shots behave the same way, so read a lone spike on a low-volume contract as noise until trading confirms it. Our guide to Kalshi liquidity and reading a thin book covers where that bites.
- A model estimate is not a verdict on value. The panel rating Detroit well above its price is a disagreement worth understanding, not a certainty. Contracts settle on what actually happens per Kalshi's written rules, which are always the governing document. Availability and rules vary by state; our state-by-state legality guide has the current picture.
FAQ
When Do The 2026 MLB Playoffs Start?
The 2026 regular season ends in late September, and the postseason opens with the best-of-three Wild Card round in early October, followed by the Division Series, the League Championship Series, and the World Series. The exact dates are set by the league schedule; the Kalshi playoff, pennant and championship contracts for 2026 are scheduled to expire around late October or early November 2026 when the World Series is decided.
How Many Teams Make The MLB Playoffs?
Twelve teams reach the postseason, six from each league: the three division winners plus three wild cards. The two best division winners in each league get a first-round bye, while the third division winner and the three wild cards play the best-of-three Wild Card round. That is why the Kalshi Playoff Qualifiers board has roughly 12 teams priced near a coin flip or higher, and the rest fading toward zero as the field fills up.
Which Team Has The Best MLB Championship Odds For 2026?
As of August 4, 2026, Kalshi prices the Los Angeles Dodgers as the clear World Series favorite in the 40-cent range, well ahead of the field. Our three price-blind AI models were far cooler on the Dodgers, blending them near 14 percent, and instead spread the top of the board across the Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves, the three teams with the best run differentials in baseball.
Are These MLB Playoff Odds Financial Advice?
No. They are model estimates for informational purposes, not predictions of fact and not financial advice. Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated event-contract exchange for users 18 and older, with availability that varies by state. Treat the panel as one input among many, and note that every number here is graded in public once each market settles.
The Bottom Line
The crowd and the machines agree on the frame and argue about the fill. Both see a deep, NL-heavy top tier, the Dodgers, Brewers, Braves and Cubs, that is all but locked into October. From there the models make three specific bets against the board: the Dodgers are too short to win it all at 40 cents in a bracket this deep even after adding Skubal, the Detroit Tigers are far too cheap to reach the playoffs given the best hidden run differential on the board, and the wild-card incumbents the market trusts on reputation, Cleveland and Philadelphia, are softer underneath than their prices imply. None of that is a recommendation, and a single hot fortnight or a September injury can move any of it. It is a snapshot of where three price-blind models and a live market agree almost everywhere, and the handful of places the machines are willing to stand apart.
