I'm just going to keep being an idiot with the Chargers. They're 0-5, they've failed to cover six straight games, and Justin Herbert looks completely broken. Kansas City is playing at a much higher level. Here's what the Chiefs do, though: they win as big favorites and don't cover. Against the Chargers, they win by one possession. Herbert Looks Broken
The Chargers lost 23-17 at home to Denver. Herbert went 14 of 23 for 121 with five sacks and an interception, and they didn't complete a pass of 20 or more yards. Ladd McConkey (foot) and Quentin Johnston (chest) are questionable, and Tre Harris is doubtful. This team stinks right now, and I won't argue otherwise.
The Chiefs Don't Cover Big Numbers
Kansas City is 4-0 and comes off a bye. Since 2024 it's 12-20 against the spread as a favorite and 7-9 as a home favorite. It covered against Miami, but De'Von Achane left that game early, and that matters.
Go back through Herbert's games against Kansas City. He usually loses, unless the Chiefs are resting starters. He almost always loses by one possession. The Chargers have covered the last four meetings.
