Angel Reese has scored 30 and 23 in the two games since the WNBA came back from the FIBA Women's World Cup break, and the widest edge on Monday's board is the under on her points. That is the whole column. Monday is a two-game night with a 2.5-point spread in New York, a 5.5 in Phoenix and the higher total of the two in New York, which means nobody is sitting the fourth quarter and nobody is getting a short shift. The kind of edge this column usually finds, the one that lives in the clock, is not here. Tonight's lives in who she is about to play, and the market has not fully priced it.
The last ticket this column published, Thursday, was the sixth straight loss. The record is 5-12 over 17 graded slips, it is printed in full below, and I am not going to dress it up. Read the results before you read the sizing, because the sizing on this one works out to about a dollar per thousand and the ledger is why.
The Quick Answer
The WNBA parlay of the day is a two-leg DraftKings ticket for Monday, September 21: Angel Reese Under 16.5 points (-108) in Atlanta Dream at New York Liberty (8:00 PM ET) and Jessica Shepard Under 13.5 points (-120) in Dallas Wings at Phoenix Mercury (10:00 PM ET). The combined price pays about +253 against a de-vigged fair near +249, a ticket-level edge of about 1.1%, and the first leg tips at 8:00 PM ET. Why the hot hand is the fade, and the ledger graded in public, are below.
Monday's Board: Two Games, Five Rows Past Fair
Two WNBA games tip Monday, and our screen graded five rows past fair when it captured the board at 9:38 AM ET. All five are unders. Four of them live in Dream at Liberty, and the fifth is the only edge in Wings at Mercury. None of the five clears 1%, which is the honest headline of the day: the market has this board priced tight, and the ticket that follows is built from cents, not dollars.
| Play | Game (Tip ET) | Book & Price | Fair | Edge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Angel Reese Under 16.5 Points | Dream @ Liberty (8:00 PM) | DraftKings -108 | -110 | 0.9% |
| Angel Reese Under 12.5 Rebounds | Dream @ Liberty (8:00 PM) | Hard Rock -125 | -127 | 0.7% |
| Allisha Gray Under 1.5 Threes | Dream @ Liberty (8:00 PM) | Hard Rock +110 | +109 | 0.5% |
| Allisha Gray Under 18.5 Points | Dream @ Liberty (8:00 PM) | DraftKings -113 | -114 | 0.4% |
| Jessica Shepard Under 13.5 Points | Wings @ Mercury (10:00 PM) | DraftKings -120 | -121 | 0.2% |
The row at the top is the one the whole night turns on. DraftKings is selling Reese under 16.5 at -108 when the de-vigged consensus makes it a 52% proposition, fair -110, and it is the widest row on the board two days after she scored 23 because the number sits at 16.5 while her season average sits at 16.6. The line is a coin flip on the season. The case below is that the hot hand came against the two worst situations in the league and is about to play the kind of team that has held her to 15.4 a night, with one loud exception in this exact matchup that I get to below.
Take the board as a whole and the one-leg-per-game, one-book structure this column runs its parlay on leaves exactly one ticket. Hard Rock holds two rows, the Reese rebounds and the Gray threes, but both are in the same game, so Hard Rock is a single. DraftKings holds three rows across both games: Reese points and Gray points in New York, Shepard points in Phoenix. One leg from the first game, one from the second. Reese carries 0.9% against Gray's 0.4%, so Reese is the New York leg, and the Gray version of the ticket is shown further down with its own math. Shepard is the Phoenix leg because Shepard is the only Phoenix leg.
The rows that graded at or below fair are worth a paragraph, because they tell you where the market is sharp tonight. Jordin Canada under 7.5 assists is -140 at DraftKings against a fair of -138. Rhyne Howard's under 3.5 rebounds and under 3.5 assists are both a few cents the wrong way at FanDuel, -114 against -111 and -112 against -109. Leonie Fiebich under 9.5 points is -125 at Hard Rock against -122. Jonquel Jones under 25.5 points, rebounds and assists is -115 at Hard Rock against -111. In Phoenix, Arike Ogunbowale under 1.5 threes pays +120 at Caesars against a fair of +123, and Alyssa Thomas under 14.5 points is -110 at FanDuel against -106, the widest miss on the board at 1.8% the wrong way. Every one of those is a pass. Note the shape of the list, though: seven unders, all priced at or short of fair, in a two-game night with the two totals at 179.5 and 172.5. The market is awake on Monday. It is a cent or two behind on two players, and that is the ticket.
Leg 1: Angel Reese Under 16.5 Points (-108)
She scored 30 on 11-of-14 shooting Thursday against Connecticut and 23 on 9-of-13 Saturday against Chicago. I know what the last two box scores say, and I am betting the under anyway, so here is the part the box scores leave out. Connecticut is 10-32, the worst record in the East, and the Dream beat them by 44. Chicago showed up in Atlanta Saturday without Natasha Cloud, Azura Stevens, DiJonai Carrington, Skylar Diggins or Rickea Jackson, five rotation players, and Kamilla Cardoso played 19 minutes in a 25-point loss. Reese took 27 shots across the two games and made 20 of them. Nobody keeps that up, and she is not going to be asked to keep it up against Jonquel Jones.
The number that runs this leg is the split. Against the seven other teams above .500, Reese has played 20 games this season, averaged 15.4 points, and stayed under 16.5 in 12 of them. Against everybody else, 21 games, she averages 17.8 and has stayed under in 8. Same player, shot volume under one attempt apart at 12.6 against 13.4, 2.4 points of difference a night, and the difference is the quality of the bodies in front of her. New York is 26-16. The Liberty start Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart in the frontcourt with Han Xu behind them, and on June 11 in Atlanta, the one time these teams have met this year, Jones pulled 10 rebounds in 26 minutes and Stewart played 35. That night is also the counterpoint, and I want it in print: Reese scored 25 on that Liberty frontcourt, on 22 shots, the most she has taken in a game all season. Atlanta played that game without Brionna Jones too, so it is the closest thing on the log to Monday's lineup, and it went the other way. I am not going to pretend the price answers that. The 20-game split does the work, June 11 is one of the eight overs inside it, and the leg is priced as a coin flip, not a conviction.
The game script helps the under, and this is where Monday differs from most nights on this board. Atlanta is a 2.5-point favorite in New York and the total is 179.5, the higher of the two on the board. That is a close game with full minutes for everybody, and full minutes usually argue against an under. Not for Reese. In the 19 games this season decided by 10 points or fewer, she has averaged 15.6 points in 32.6 minutes and stayed under 16.5 in 11 of them. In the eight games decided by 20 or more, she has averaged 19.4 in 27.8 minutes and stayed under in two. Her scoring goes up when the game gets away, because the shots stop mattering and the layups come easy. Thursday and Saturday were both of those. Monday is priced as the other kind.
Here is the same log cut four ways, because the four cuts are the bet:
| Angel Reese, 2026 | Games | Points per game | Under 16.5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vs. Teams Above .500 | 20 | 15.4 | 12 of 20 |
| Vs. Teams Below .500 | 21 | 17.8 | 8 of 21 |
| Games Decided By 10 Or Fewer | 19 | 15.6 | 11 of 19 |
| Games Decided By 20 Or More | 8 | 19.4 | 2 of 8 |
The row that matters is the first one, and the one that matters second is the last one, because Thursday and Saturday were both decided by 20 or more against sub-.500 teams and the number was set after them. Monday is priced as neither.
Now the honest version of what argues against me, because it is real. Brionna Jones has been out since Aug. 13 with a left leg injury that ended her season, and Reese's usage went up when Jones went down. In the nine games since, she has averaged 20.2 points on 13.7 shots in 33.8 minutes, against 15.6 on 12.8 shots before the injury. Four of those nine stayed under 16.5. The season-long 20-of-41 and the market's 52% both live inside that number, and if the post-injury role were the whole story the under would be a pass. It is not the whole story, because six of those nine games were against teams under .500, and the three that were not read 15, 21 and 15. Three games is a hint, not evidence, and I am not hanging the leg on it. The 20-game split against the top half is the sample that carries the weight.
The free-throw line is the last piece. She shoots 72.6% from there on the season, and on Aug. 7 in Washington she went 1-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-8 from the line for 7 points, which is what a bad night against a real defense looks like on her log. She does not need to shoot poorly for this to cash, and she does not need fewer shots. She needs her 13 to come with Jonquel Jones in the frame instead of a 25-point lead and a 19-minute Kamilla Cardoso, which is the difference between the 45% she shoots on the season and the 74% she shot across the two games.
There is a schedule note on the other side of the floor. New York played Sunday afternoon in Toronto, a 106-69 win in which Stewart, Jones and Sabrina Ionescu each played 22 minutes or fewer, so the Liberty are playing on back-to-back days with rested starters. That schedule is also the live risk to this leg: if Jonquel Jones is a step slow in the second half, the rim gets soft and the 16.5 goes with it. Sunday's short shifts came from a 37-point rout, and the Liberty are not getting that script tonight. Satou Sabally is listed out, and Elizabeth Balogun is out and away from the team. Atlanta comes in at 28-14, first in the East by a game over Indiana with two to play, and Karl Smesko has a seed to protect, which is why I expect Reese to play 33 minutes, her post-injury norm, and the price is absorbing that. The bet does not need her to sit. It needs her to face a real center for 31 minutes.
Leg 2: Jessica Shepard Under 13.5 Points (-120)
This is the leg I would not bet alone, and I am putting that sentence ahead of the case for it. The de-vigged consensus puts Shepard under 13.5 at 54.7%, fair -121, and DraftKings is offering -120. One cent. It is on the ticket because DraftKings holds the only edge in Phoenix, a ticket needs a second game, and one cent past fair is still past fair. Now the case, because there is one.
Shepard is not the Wings' scorer. She is the Wings' connector: 10.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists a night on 10.1 shots, 14.3 points, and she shoots 57.9% from the floor on them. Read the average against the number before you read anything else: the book is asking for below-average scoring, and her season says under 13.5 in 19 of 40, a coin flip that the market prices at 54.7%. Friday against Los Angeles she handed out 12 assists and scored 13. Saturday afternoon against this same Phoenix team she scored 10 on 3-of-10 in 27 minutes, with Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale taking 33 shots between them for 48 points. That is the Dallas offense as Jose Fernandez runs it, and it is the reason her points number lives at 13.5 while her rebounds and assists carry the profile. When she takes fewer than 10 shots, she has stayed under 13.5 in 12 of 17 games. When she takes 10 or more, she has stayed under in 7 of 23. The whole leg is the shot count, and the honest base rate is that she clears 10 shots more often than not, 23 of 40 games and five of her last seven, which is why this is a one-cent leg and not a conviction play. Saturday's 10 attempts against Alyssa Thomas and Natasha Mack produced three makes.
Against the seven other teams above .500 she averages 13.0 and has stayed under in 13 of 21. Against the rest she averages 15.6 and has stayed under in 6 of 19, and Phoenix, at 15-27, is the rest. That cuts against me. Dallas is a 5.5-point favorite, and she scores more in Dallas wins than Dallas losses, under in 8 of 25 wins against 11 of 15 losses, which is the other thing that cuts against me. The two Mercury games this season split the same way the whole log does: 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting on June 11, when the shots fell, and 10 on 3-of-10 Saturday, when they did not. She does not miss often. When she does, she does not have the volume to shoot her way out of it, and Alyssa Thomas guarding the paint is a reason the shots do not fall.
The callback belongs here, because this column has bet a Shepard under before. On Aug. 30 the slip was Shepard under 15.5 points, and she scored 17 on 4-of-6 shooting with 9-of-11 from the line in 25 minutes. That is the loss profile in one box score: a short night, almost no shot volume, and a free-throw spike that beat the number anyway. She is a 68.9% free-throw shooter who averages 3.7 attempts, and the Aug. 30 line came from 11 trips to the stripe. It can happen again. The number is two points lower now and the price is a cent past fair, and that is the entire difference between a pass and a leg.
The rest of the Dallas picture is stable. Alanna Smith is out with a lower leg injury and no timetable, Azzi Fudd is done for the season ahead of a knee procedure, and Costanza Verona's contract was suspended Saturday, so the rotation that played Saturday is the rotation that plays Monday: Awak Kuier and Maddy Siegrist start alongside Shepard with Li Yueru spelling them, and Bueckers and Ogunbowale take the shots. Phoenix is thin at guard, with Kelsey Plum out for the season and Kahleah Copper listed out with a probable note next to her name, and Kara Dunn day-to-day and probable with a knee. A Phoenix team without Plum changes what Bueckers does, not what Shepard does, and Bueckers scoring 30 is a night Shepard passes more and shoots less.
The correlation check: two legs, two arenas, two hours apart, and two different ways to lose. The Reese leg dies if the Dream run New York off the floor and she gets the easy-basket fourth quarter she got Thursday and Saturday; the Shepard leg dies if the free throws come the way they did on Aug. 30. A Dream blowout at 8:00 PM ET does not put Shepard on the line at 10:00 PM ET. Nothing here is a same-game package; the two probabilities multiply clean, which is the license for the math below.
The De-Vig Math: +249 Fair, +253 Payout
The worked example, using only the prices above:
- The payout. Convert each price to decimal odds and multiply: 1.93 (Reese at -108) x 1.83 (Shepard at -120) = 3.53, about a +253 American price. A $100 ticket profits about $253 if both legs cash.
- The fair price. The de-vigged win probabilities are 52.4% and 54.7%. Independent games multiply straight: the ticket cashes about 28.6% of the time, a fair price near +249.
- The edge. Getting +253 on a +249 proposition is a ticket-level edge of about 1.1%, most of it from the Reese leg. The expected value calculator guide walks the multiplication step by step.

Two housekeeping notes on the table. The hole between Aug. 30 and Sept. 17 is the FIBA Women's World Cup break; the league did not play. The record is 5-12, the streak is six, and the last three losses all went the same way: every leg but one cashed. Brink and Harrison both cashed on Aug. 28 while Allisha Gray, whose rows are on tonight's board, handed out one assist too many. Atkins and the Valkyries both cashed on Aug. 30 while Shepard went to the line 11 times. Alyssa Thomas grabbed 8 rebounds on Sept. 17 and cashed, and Georgia Amoore handed out 5 assists in 23 minutes. That is the pattern I am carrying into tonight, and it is why the Shepard leg gets the "would not bet it alone" label instead of a bigger stake: the last time she was on this ticket, the free-throw line beat me.
The thread into tonight runs through the same idea from the other direction. A points under on a 12-shot player is not a stat that spikes on one loose ball. It needs shots, and shots are the one thing Reese does not get more of against a frontcourt that makes her work for them. The Parlay Builder is where this gets checked before it gets bet: load both legs, and if the combined price you are offered has drifted below the +249 fair, the ticket is a pass. These lines were captured at 9:38 AM ET and the first tip is 8:00 PM ET, which is a long window for a number sitting a tenth of a point under her season average.
Every leg here started as a row on the OddsShopper WNBA player props screen, the same screen that caught Monday's five rows past fair and flagged the Reese points number as the widest one on a two-game board. Code WNBAPOD20 takes 20% off your first payment of OS Pro or OS Core.
The Tickets I Left On The Table
The other DraftKings build is Allisha Gray under 18.5 points at -113 with the same Shepard leg, and its math is a +246 payout against a fair near +243, a ticket-level edge of about 0.6%. It is worse on the numbers and worse on the substance. Gray averages 19.6 points against winning teams, more than her season average, not less, and has stayed under 18.5 in 9 of 20 against them. She went 4-of-7 for 17 in 28 minutes Saturday and 7-of-7 from the line, and the one Liberty game on her log is 18 points on 7-of-11. A player who scores more against good teams is the wrong player to fade against a good team, whatever the price says. Reese is the other kind.
The Hard Rock pair is the one that looks best and cannot be a ticket. Reese under 12.5 rebounds at -125 and Gray under 1.5 threes at +110 are the second- and third-widest rows on the board, and if they were in different games they would multiply to about +278 against a fair near +274. They are in the same game, which makes them one leg under the series rule and a same-game correlation besides, and the Gray half of it is a fade of a shooter who has made two or more threes in eight of her last ten. The Reese half is the better single on the board for anyone shopping rows one at a time as positive-EV plays: 11.9 rebounds a night against winning teams, under 12.5 in 12 of 20, and 9 boards in June against Jonquel Jones. If you take one thing off this board on its own, that is the row I would take second, behind the Reese points.
How To Size It
A 28.6% ticket at +253 prices to a full-Kelly stake of about 0.43% of bankroll, and a quarter of that is about 0.11%, per standard bankroll management. On a $1,000 bankroll that is about a dollar. I am not rounding that up to make it look like a bet. It is a dollar because the board earned a dollar, and a bettor who fires $25 on a 1.1% ticket because the column said "parlay of the day" is doing the thing the losing streak is supposed to teach you not to do.
The honest version of the sizing question is why this is a parlay and not a Reese single. Per dollar of risk, the single is the better bet: 0.9% of edge on a 52% proposition at -108, no second leg, no second way to lose. The parlay bolts on a leg with one cent of edge, which adds almost nothing to the expected value and a lot to the variance, turning a 52% bet into a 29% one. This is a parlay column, and I write the ticket the board gives me; that trade is why the number above is a dollar and not five. If you only want the best bet per dollar on Monday's board, it is Reese under 16.5 on its own at DraftKings, and the rebounds under at Hard Rock behind it. Size to the edge, not the record, and not the losing streak either.
- The hard deadline is 8:00 PM ET in New York. After the tip, the Reese leg is gone and the ticket with it.
- Check the Dream's inactives before the tip. If Reese is out, there is no ticket. If Jonquel Jones or Breanna Stewart is a late scratch for the Liberty, the frontcourt case is gone and so is the leg.
- Watch the spread. The under is built on a close game. If this number moves past seven points in either direction by tip, the blowout profile is back and the Reese case gets thinner with it.
- Confirm the DraftKings slip reads Jessica Shepard points under 13.5, not another Wings under at the same number, before you add the leg.
- If DraftKings' combined number drifts below the +249 fair, close the app.

FAQ
Why DraftKings, when Hard Rock holds two of the three widest rows?
Because Hard Rock's two rows, the Reese rebounds and the Gray threes, are both in Dream at Liberty, and this series runs one leg per game and one book per slip. Two legs from the same game are one leg with a correlation attached, and the book knows it. DraftKings is the only book on Monday's board with a row past fair in each game, so DraftKings gets the ticket. If you would rather bet a single, the Hard Rock rebounds row is the second-best number on the board.
Do the Reese points under and the Reese rebounds under work as a pair?
Not as a parlay. They are the same player in the same game, and her own log says the two stats trade off more than they stack: in the 20 games against the top half of the league, both unders landed together seven times and split ten, and on June 11 against this Liberty team she scored 25 and grabbed 9, points over and rebounds under. A book prices a same-game combination off the correlation it models, not the one in her log, and the series rule is one leg per game either way. Pick one. The points under carries more edge and the stronger split, so that is the one on the ticket.
Doesn't the break make the split stale?
The split is 41 games of sample, and only two of them are post-break, both blowouts against sub-.500 teams. That is the point. The line sits right on her season average, and that average has two easy nights against Connecticut and a gutted Chicago freshly baked into it, while the 39 games before the break, played against the full mix of the league, say she scores 15.4 against the top half of it. The two-game hot streak is the smallest sample on the page, and it is the one the market is leaning on.
The Bottom Line
A win tonight makes the ledger 6-12 and ends the streak; a loss makes it 5-13 and seven, and either way the column prints it. What decides which one is not whether Angel Reese is hot. It is whether Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart make her work for 15 on 12 shots the way the good frontcourts have all season, and whether Jessica Shepard stays the passer Jose Fernandez has her being while Paige Bueckers takes the shots. Karl Smesko has a seed to protect and Chris DeMarco's starters are rested off a Sunday blowout, so this is a full-minutes game for everybody, and the under has to be earned on the floor rather than on the bench. The Dream tip at 8:00 PM ET, these prices were captured at 9:38 AM ET, and DraftKings has to still show -108 on the Reese under and -120 on Shepard's for the ticket to exist. If it does, fire it at the size above, which is small on purpose. If either number has moved past fair, or the spread has run away from 2.5, close the app.
